The FIRE Church Worship Department exist to be a people that are Loving God, Building Community, and Changing the World .

Loving God – Loving God on a daily basis, in our everyday lives and in every area of our lives, is our main purpose. Our goal as a team is to exemplify our love for God in our corporate meetings, as well as to His Church, our families and to the world.

Building Community – Building Community goes far beyond our corporate services. We desire to be a people who love others as Christ loves us. We believe one key way to building healthy, godly community is to share life together on a regular basis. Becoming a part of a Life-Group (please refer to the FIRE Church life-group link) is very important and is one step on the road to building community within our body. We also encourage all of our team members to attend our monthly fellowship times as a way of building this authentic community experience.

Changing the World – Changing the World takes place when, as a result of Loving God and Building Community, we discover and utilize the spiritual gifts that God has given to you. We encourage you to help reach out through our areas of ministry by way of corporate meetings, outreaches and special events at FIRE.

LEADERS: Mike and Ruth Motley

Mike and Ruth Motley married in 1999 and have 4 children: Matthew, Caroline, Israel and Emma. The Motleys are graduates from Brownsville School of Ministry in the very first class of 1998. Mike Motley had the privilege of serving under Lindell Cooley in the late 1990′s as the associate Worship Pastor at Brownsville Assembly of God. Mike currently leads the worship at FIRE Church, as well as travels with Christ For All Nations, a ministry of Daniel Kolinda and Reinhard Bonnke. Mike’s passions are not only music and worship, but also spreading the message of the purpose of family as the government of God and the portal that God’s Kingdom moves through on the earth. His desire is to see Malachi 4:6 fulfilled in these days, “That the hearts of the fathers will be turned to the sons and sons to the fathers…” It is also the heart of the Motleys to see the ‘Church‘ come to the full knowledge of its ultimate purposes as it pertains to the salvation of Israel. (Rom 11:11- Salvation has come to the Gentiles to provoke Israel to jealousy.)

Ruth Motley is a mother, wife, and business owner who carries a deep burden of the mission of the local Church. Her desire, specifically, is to see women in the church empowered to become all that God has called them to be. As a small business owner, Ruth has a heart to see the ‘new leg of the church’, marketplace ministry, thrive in its purposes as a conduit to financing the Kingdom’s work all over the world. Ruth is also on the front lines of helping to be a voice for those who are living in the shadows of injustice all over the world through partnering with various other ministries who are reaching out to human trafficking victims and orphans.

Mike, Ruth and their 4 children reside in Concord, North Carolina.

FELLOWSHIP

Monthly – Monthly fellowships are foundational in building a family atmosphere within our team. We make it a point to get together at least once a month for an extended fellowship time. These fellowships are often agenda free times of hanging out and laughing over a few snacks and a cup of coffee.

Retreats – Each year our department takes one weekend in the spring and one weekend in the fall to get away for a team retreat. The main purpose of these retreats is to further build a deeper family relationship within our team. We also take these times to focus on team building, workshops, devotionals, and teachings.

BUILDING EXCELLENCE

Rehearsals – We desire to bring glory to God through the gifts He has given us, i.e. our instruments and voices. We believe in being good stewards of these gifts and that is why we have weekly rehearsals. During our rehearsal times we work on vocals, as well as arrangements for our worship songs. We’ve found that through these rehearsal times, our relationships with one another as family and musicians have deepened, and our love for God has grown.

Spiritual – We encourage all of our team members to continually go deeper in their walk with the Lord. We know that our spirit man must be strong and in line with God in order for the rest of our life, including musicianship and worship, to function properly.

JOINING THE DEPARTMENT

There Are Many Opportunities – There are many opportunities within our department to serve, even if you are not a musician or singer. We openly welcome anyone who feels called by God to be a part of our department and we love welcoming new members into our spiritual family.

Open Heart Night – Anytime someone is interested in joining our department we have what we like to call an “Open Heart Night!” The purpose of this night is for us to get to know those interested in joining the department and for us to share our hearts with them. These nights are the beginning of building deeper relationships with those who join the department.
